RE: 3/4 ton or 1 ton?

in youre case id buy the one ton drw chassie cab and have a srw bed put on then get a 19.5 inch wheel upgrade to handle loads in the future of a larger tt
but for your current rig the 3/4 ton is fine and will handle no problem
but if you go bigger and want srw do 19.5 inch tires to get the weight ratings you neeed

RE: sagging rear end on 04 gmc 3500....now w/pics

get bigger springs if its a daily driver just get the overload beefed up (bigger/more leafs)
or if its just a tow beast then go with bigger springs
i just noticed is the nose of that gn higher than the deck height?
it looks way too high or maybe its just the pic?
ive heard that can cause more hitchweight (pulling effect) but i dont tow gn

RE: What are your best tips and tricks while camping?

Any suggestions on how to get away from living out of slimey zip-lock bags for our bathroom stuff? (Toothbrushes, pastes, soaps/shampoos)
get a plastic lunch box and add a piece of styrene with holes in it to hold the toothbrushes and paste alone with a rinse cup or two
styrene can be bought at hobbystores and will glue to plastic well, it can also be drilled witha cheap drill to make holes then just sand the burrs off. i will do this one day as a project once i get a camper lol
and a larger plastic box could incorperate tp or shampoo too. now i think of it silicone may work to hold the styrene too
if anyone tries this pm me i want to know how it went

RE: do i need all 4 tires in load range E

YOU DO NOT NEED AIR BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you need larger springs the air bags will be a lost cause because with such weak springs the bags will hold all the weight and counteract the springs and cause more bounce
get larger springs maybe off a 2500 or go to stanley springs with your rear axle weight with camper on it

RE: Not your basic gas vs. diesel question

my 2 cents ford diesel is junk go witha dodge 3500 with the cummins then get that lifetime warrenty thing they were doing
and chevy diesel is still a "new" area they havnt worked out all the bugs
ford has not worked out bugs wither unless you can find a 7.3 psd but they rnt made new anymore

RE: TOWING CAPACITY FORMULA

my rule of thumb is long as youre not over gawr for the rear or the ratiing on your tires (keep in mind some use d instead of e rated tires)
honestly you could convert a tractor trailer trailer and use a dolly then put 1/2 ton in your bed and still pull it now stopping thats another story good trailer brakes are key try to get both axles to be safe
and thats where the 20k comes in usualy the gcwr is brakes
your truck and a trailer adding up to 20 k is the max it can safely stop

is this worth it

ok there is a trailer that im looking into but it has a leak in the roof but wait the leak is from a missing vent lid and all the water that has got in has gone right down the tub now the bathroom walls will need some work but other than that its in good shape its a late 70's tt and is i think 20 ft or around there maybe 19
is that leak once fixed going to be alright ( i think id just get a new cap) then replace the walls anyway
now id remodel it for my needs so the walls needing replaced is no big deal
and what would you see as a decent price they want 1000 but i was thinking around 500 is its valuse since the work needs done (which they may go down to)

RE: fulltime ish?

well id be eventually building a carport or maybe a large garage id find a place thatd allow it and then go from there i like to be able to move around but i dont like the idea of leaving crutial items behind
so if i got a large camper to live in itd be alright then i can unhook and go out
ofcoarse itd b my property id hate to be kicked out like overstaying your welcome at a campsite plus i will be at that location pretty much so bills are not a big deal

RE: Renting out home?

imo its a good idea if your house needs to be rehabed to go on the market so see if you can remodel the home and sell it for more than youd get now and a remodel in a year or 2
then if its possible to breakeven or gain profit then go for it rember you can choose to raise the money to rent it
or find someone looking to rent to own and tell them one year no obligation renting on your part and then if u like fulltimeing ask them to buy if not tell them your plans changed then you can either sell to them and buy new (smaller to accomadate your new 2 month trips) or just kick them out

RE: Need bigger truck!

imo the mega cab is too big its like a lincoln with more headroom its huge (even echos) youll want to stay with a diesel a 5.4 will taake more fuel because itll have trouble pulling anything up hill '
the sd diesels do suck now but the 7.3 is ok or a good idea is to buy a trashed truck and swap your drivetrain etc. into the new body/ frame a similar truck to yours that has a blown engine could be had for little
